I started along my path as a business owner and esthetician about 15 years ago. I have suffered from cystic acne since I was 13. I went to see several dermatologists without much improvement. Then one day, I went to a new dermatologist. She prescribed regular facials for deep cleaning of my skin, similar to going to the dentist to regularly for deep cleaning of your teeth, so I started getting facials monthly. People started complimenting me on my skin, and I was astonished.

Once COVID hit, during lockdown, I realized life isn’t the same anymore. At the time I had already completed my Master’s degree and thought I would never go back to school, but I did anyway, this time for skincare. The esthetician I had been getting my prescribed treatments from agreed to be my mentor, and I watched her work, practiced with her, and got licensed. This experience is what allowed me to create and own Classical Beauty Spa in Loveland, specializing in natural skin care.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband and I have been in Loveland for 19 years. We have two golden retrievers. I am originally from Southern California.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I was, and still am an artist. I sold artwork for several years. Prior to that, I was a model for artists (sculptors, photographers, painters). I was actually a model for several artists who have sculptures in Benson Sculpture Park in Loveland. When I was modeling, I would listen to the artists while they worked, and eventually decided it was time to be an artist. I then used all the knowledge I had gained from listening to the artists during years of modeling when I became an artist. I now use my artist skills for skincare (brush work, etc.). I am not sure what the future holds, we will see what happens in the world. I do know that I will keep my skincare business natural (no plans for Botox, etc.).

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
4th Street Chophouse

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
19 years

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
One of the original artists I worked with, Jack Kreutzer (he’s a stereotypical artist, clothes full of clay, always a little disheveled, hands covered in plaster). He’s just a fun person, great to work with/work for; it’s always nice to be around him.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Safari in South Africa. My husband and I had planned to go on in July 2020, but COVID has delayed that trip. We will go, just don’t know when.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Movie: Thelma and Louise! TV: Golden Girls.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Do it! Even when you don’t know exactly where you’re going or how you will get there. Go towards it, and eventually you will get there. And don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Besides going on a South African safari, I would like to own a business property.

Downtown Loveland or Lake Loveland (by Sculpture Garden).

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Hilary Clinton. She is the first lady of a lot of things – first woman to make it on major ticket for presidency, and she was a feminist before feminism was cool. Love her or hate her she truly is a pioneer.

All the artwork!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Dogs – golden retrievers, puppies, puppy breath, puppy kisses…

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband – he’s such a nice person. There isn’t a dog in the world that doesn’t love him. He’s nice to everyone, and helps people fix their problems. I want to be like him in my next life.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Coffee and Bourbon.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
